This wasn’t explicitly mentioned initially, but following a couple of queries the guidelines have now been amended to reflect the fact that submissions must be in English. It all comes back to the concept of expressing aspects of Indonesia that aren’t often enough found in the English language and sharing them with the rest of the world…winning entries will be published online on the new KABAR website when it’s launched in 2007.
A few entrants have had this query with regard to Level III of the contest, and the answer is yes – as long as the piece adheres to the themes of travel and Indonesia, both fiction and non-fiction entries are accepted. The purpose of the competition is to encourage and promote great writing about Indonesia and for this reason there is no restriction as to style for Level III.
